Course on medication errors
The International School of Pharmacology of the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture (EMFCSC) in Erice, Sicily organizes a Course on "Medication Errors" from 2nd to 6th May 2016. A medication error is an unintended failure in the treatment process that leads to, or has the potential to lead to, harm to the patient. It has been estimated that 1–2% of patients admitted to US hospitals are harmed as a result of medication errors. Prescribing faults and prescription errors are the main problem among medication errors. In fact, prescription errors account for 70% of medication errors that could result in adverse drug reactions (ADRs). The approach to this issue of great medical importance must be multifactorial, since there are many aspects to consider. The aim of the proposed Course is to gather influential scientists for a review of the most recent updates on medication errors, that will be offered to the researchers who will take part to the course as “students”.
